Welcome to Woodstation!

My name is Jayne Black and I am the WES Title l Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator. My primary role is to support parents and provide information on how you can be fully engaged in your child's education. I encourage you to visit our Family Resource Center (Room 120) to learn about the many ways you can be involved and how to fully participate in your child's education. In the Family Resource Center, there are community, parenting, and educational resources available for you to take home to help your family succeed both in and out of the classroom. I'm committed to making sure all parents have the resources necessary to feel confident communicating with teachers and staff at school. I'm looking forward to an exciting and successful year!

Family and School Team (FAST)

Thank you to all the parents and family members who came to our first Family and School Team (FAST) Group Meeting on September 18. Teachers did a wonderful job discussing foundational grade level skills, goals, student data, and home practice activities. We hope you are working at home with your student on these activities. If you were unable to attend, your student's data and activities were sent home in the Wednesday folder on September 26. Please review your child's assessment data and make a SMART goal for your child's progress using the yellow SMART goal sheet included in the packet. Return one copy of the SMART goal sheet to your child's teacher. Progress on this goal will be discussed with you at the next FAST meeting in November.

FAST Individual Teacher Meetings (Conferences) November 5-9.

Our next FAST meetings will be an individual meeting with your child's teacher that is similar to a parent-teacher conference. At this meeting, you will receive updated assessment data for your student and discuss progress with your child's teacher. The SMART goal you made for your child during the September FAST meeting will be reviewed and you will work with the teacher to set a new goal for your child. Teachers will give you individualized information on what skills to practice with your child and ways to practice these skills at home. In order to accomodate parent schedules, November 6 will be our late night where teachers will stay until 6:00 p.m. for these meetings. Look for more information coming home soon in your child's Wednesday folder. Please be sure to sign up for a meeting!

We want your Input!

We want parents to be an active part in decision making at WES. If you have any input or suggestions for our Family Engagement Program or our Title l Budget, please email Jayne Black, Family Engagement Coordinator, at Title l budget information can be found on the Title l page of our school website. For more information about how we spend our Title l funds, please review the Annual Meeting and PAC presentations on the school website and fill out an Input Card with your suggestions. We want to hear from you!

Family Resource Center (Room 120)

Our Family Resource Center (Room 120) lending library has parenting resources available for check-out. These include parenting books, brochures on academic topics, and books and activities for children. You are welcome to borrow these resources to use at home and return them when you're finished. The Family Resource Center is also a place for volunteers to gather and connect with each other. We'd love for you to stop by!
