Welcome to Woodstation!

My name is Jayne Black and I am the WES Title l Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator. My primary role is to support parents and provide information on how you can be fully engaged in your child's education. I encourage you to visit our Family Resource Center (Room 120) to learn about the many ways you can be involved and how to fully participate in your child's education. There are community, parenting, and educational resources available for you to take home to help your family succeed both in and out of the classroom. I'm committed to making sure all parents have the resources necessary to feel confident communicating with teachers and staff at school. I'm looking forward to an exciting and successful year!

March 16 - Fifth Grade Transition to Middle School Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

All 5th grade parents, guardians, and students are invited to attend this special breakfast. Heritage Middle School Principal, Mr. Lusk, will speak to families to help them prepare for middle school. He will explain schedules, classes, academic expectations, lockers, and much more! Information about 6th grade standards, and how to help your child be successful in middle school will be available. PTO will provide a light breakfast. We hope you will join us!

Georgia Milestones Parent Information Workshop - March 20, 6:00 p.m.

This workshop is for parents of students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. Students in grades 3-5 will be taking Georgia Milestones Assessments April 23-27. The teachers have been working hard in the classroom to make sure your student is prepared for testing. This workshop is a great time to get some tips about what you can do at home to make sure your child has a smooth testing week. Information about the test components, scoring, and testing dates will be covered. Please mark your calendar now for this important meeting!

Parent Input Meeting to revise our School Improvement Plan – March 20, 6:30 p.m. 

As we begin to start planning for next school year, we would like your input as we develop and revise our School Improvement Plan for 2018-2019. Please attend this meeting to learn more about the school goals that will be outlined in the plan. This will be a casual discussion time with Mr. Ellis. Parents will be encouraged to ask questions and give feedback about school decisions. Please attend!

How to Help My Middle School Child with Math Homework (April 17, 6:00 p.m.)

This workshop is being presented at WES by our partner, Communities In Schools. It is for anyone who will be helping a rising 6th grader study math. The workshop will cover how to create a working environment for studying, the teachers approach to teaching math, techniques to studying and staying organized, and suggested websites for self-help when studying math. This workshop was developed by Konnie McKown, math teacher at Lakeview Middle School and John Lee, Youth Development Coordinator with Communities In Schools and is based off the book How to Study Math: 80 Ways to Make the Grade.

Family Resource Center Book Check-Out

Our Family Resource Center (Room 120) lending library has parenting resources available for check-out. These include parenting books, brochures on academic topics, and books and activities for children. You are welcome to borrow these resources to use at home and return them when you're finished. The Family Resource Center is also a place for volunteers to gather and connect with each other. We'd love for you to stop by!

If you have any input or suggestions for our Parent and Family Engagement Program or for our Title l budget, please email We want parents to be an active part in decision making at WES. You have a right as a parent to request meetings you feel are necessary at any time. Annual Meeting Information Sheets, CCPS Parent and Family Engagement Policy, WES Parent and Family Engagement Policy, Input Cards, and testing information, are always available in our Family Resource Center (Room 120). Our Family Resource Center is open during school hours. I am also available to answer questions and provide information Monday - Friday from 7:30-3:30 p.m. Thank you for being involved in your child's education!
