February Newsletter

Dear Woodstation Family,

Here we are in the third nine weeks! We have made huge gains the first half of the year and are using every day to prepare students for success. Every day is important for us to help students learn the standards needed to meet their grade level goals. We appreciate our parents making sure that our students are at school every day, on time, and ready to learn.

During the third nine weeks our teachers have begun reassessing student progress to make sure all students are reaching their goals this year. Our goal is for every student to be reading on or above their Lexile level this year. As teachers are working at school to prepare your child for Georgia Milestones Assessments in April, we also have some tips for ways you can help at home to prepare your child. Please mark your calendar for our Title l Georgia Milestones Parent Workshop on March 28 at 6:00 p.m. We will give parents more information about the test including things you can do at home to help your child do their best. Parents, I appreciate your support and would like to thank the teachers and staff at Woodstation for making learning a priority every day.

Our Spring Parent-Teacher Conference Week is February 27-March 3. Our teachers will be scheduling parent conferences throughout this week and holding extended after school hours for conferences on February 28 to help answer any questions you may have with your child’s progress. A sign-up sheet will be coming home with your child, so be sure to sign-up for this opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher.

Woodstation is hosting a camping themed book fair February 27nd – March 3. Our book fair will also be open late on Feb. 28th until 6 p.m. for you to come by and shop for some great books while you are here for your parent conference. Dr. Seuss week is also February 27th – March 3th.

This will be Woodstation’s fourth year for our Track team and it will start in March with information available on our school website. Track is for any boy or girl in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade with good grades, behavior, and attendance. Sign-up information will be coming in a few weeks for our students to have fun learning about track and field.
